Lightcast.com Release Notes for October 16th, 2015

The Lightcast.com Technical Department is happy to announce some great update and tools. See what's new below:

FTP Batch Encoding improvements
There are a couple of new options available for the FTP Batch Encoding feature, such as specifying into which VOD Channel(s) the videos should be assigned to. This saves users a lot of time as they don't have to assign each single video to a channel manually after transcoding is completed. Another great new feature for FTP Uploads is the adding of watermarks to your batch uploads. You can assign an uploaded watermark to your batch uploads before sending the video into transcoding. The watermark will then be added to all your batch uploaded videos automatically. You don't have to manually add the watermark to each single upload. The watermark feature is included in larger packages.

Watermarks Manager improvements
We've made some improvements to the Watermark feature which makes it easier for clients to manage their watermark uploads. With the Watermark Manager, located under "Media Archives",  you can upload and edit a Watermark image, as well as defining the position of your Watermark on the player, the opacity, size and much more. On the video upload page you can easily choose a Watermark image to be used on your video file.
This feature is included in larger packages.

Facebook Video Publishing improvements
Facebook increased the duration of videos being shared on their platform from 20 minutes to 45 minutes. The maximum file size was also lifted from 1 GB to 1.75 GB. This means that Lightcast clients, whose package includes the publishing of videos to Facebook, are now able to share larger videos on their Facebook pages or profiles. Other improvements and changes in our back-end were made in order to improve the user experience further more.

LightcastAPI improvements
When returning the Live channel information using the 'Channels' action we also include the single-bitrate embed code for multi-bitrate channel groups as an additional option, and the multi-bitrate version will be returned in the new field embed_code_adaptive. This gives API users more flexibility when streaming in multiple bitrates.

Lightcast EasyPay improvements

Subscribers, donors or payees of Lightcast clients who are using the Lightcast EasyPay product, such as the Subscription and Payment Processing System to monetize media on websites, mobile and ConnectedTV Apps, now receive an email linking them to the EasyPay login form instead of the standard Lightcast login form. This avoids possible confusion on the Subscribers end as well as further branding opportunities for Lightcast EasyPay clients.

There are plenty of other technical improvements we've made over the past weeks to the benefit of our clients and users. Check them out and let us know what you think. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
