What is the difference between Lightcast’s Facebook Media App or publishing videos directly to Facebook’s timeline?

Facebook Video Publishing allows you to publish your videos simultaneously to your Facebook page in addition to all your publishing properties, such as your own websites, mobile apps, and ConnectedTV Channels.

That said, the Media App is a much better solution for publishing videos to Facebook as it allows to permanently embed the Lightcast Player (with all of its intelligent functionalities such as scrolling through your playlist/media center, search function, subtitle display, re-embedding, download, social sharing to other social sites, etc.) on the Facebook Page - independent from Facebook’s news feed, thus not subject to being moved down quickly on the “friends” news feed and disappear from their view rapidly (as with everything on Facebook news feeds). And with Facebook's 45 minutes limitation for video uploads, you might not be able to post your video to your timeline.

Furthermore, entire VOD archives can be displayed in custom thumbnail galleries permanently inside the Facebook Media App.

Facebook video publishing has its limitations and advantages, but permanent display of VOD archives (and LIVE Players) in a dedicated Media App is definitely the superior solution over regular video posting on your News Feed.
