My LIVE Channels consume video minutes under "Embedded on Websites" although I didn't embed them on my website. Why is that the case?

If you haven't embedded any of your live-players on your website, but you are publishing your LIVE Channel on CROSS.TV or any other social platform, those views are counted towards "Embedded on Websites".

When watching your video or live stream within your Lightcast.com account, these stats will also be added to the "Embedded on Websites" filter.

If you didn't publish your Channel on CROSS.TV or any other sites, then these stats are only from the transcoding overhead. In order to make live-streams available on mobile devices, such as HLS/HDS and ConnectedTV devices, they have to be sent into real-time transcoding, which incurs incoming and outgoing bandwidth usage - to and from the transcoding farm at our main CDN facilities - equaling two continuous viewers. The transcoding bandwidth usage is accounted for as "Embedded On Websites" in the Media Stats Center.

Since it is only for the actual time streamed, the transcoding bandwidth usage is barely noticeable during live-events, but it does increase the bandwidth usage on 24/7 streams. Lightcast therefore recommends publishers of 24/7 streams to use a bandwidth package large enough to accommodate their streams.
